Product carbon footprint

We do the maths. You make better orders.

Compare packaging and industrial products without making long searches or doing maths: for selected kaiserkraft industry products and ratioform packaging solutions, we display the carbon footprint directly in the webshop – in the form of the product carbon footprint, or PCF for short, in the product details.

This allows you to immediately see the carbon footprint that a product has, which additional models perform best in terms of CO₂ emissions, and which data you can use directly for your own documentation. This includes, for example, information for Scope 3 data, internal reduction measures, SBTi targets, supplier assessments, tenders, CSRD related documentation or your sustainability report.

We take care of the complex PCF calculation for you – in a way that is easy to understand, transparent and specific to the product. This helps you make decisions that save time, conserve resources and provide tangible support for your climate targets.

What is the product carbon footprint?

A product leaves a footprint – only you don’t usually see it right away when you place your order. This is exactly where the product carbon footprint, or PCF for short, becomes relevant.

The PCF measures a product’s impact on the climate. This is measured on the basis of all the greenhouse gas emissions that it generates throughout its lifecycle, from the production of the raw materials through to its deployment. This value is expressed in CO₂e, which stands for CO₂ equivalents. This value allows different greenhouse gases to be combined into one common unit, thereby making it easier to compare products.

Or, to put it more simply:

The PCF converts the impact on the climate into a figure that can be used in purchasing, reporting and sustainability assessments. The lower the reported CO₂e value, the lower the product’s calculated impact on the climate.

We take care of the calculations.

Would you like to source products more sustainably, but don’t want to have to calculate out the impact of every single product yourself? We understand that perfectly. After all, placing orders should be an efficient process – not a study in emissions.

That is why we calculate the product carbon footprint for selected products and show the CO₂e values right where the decisions are made: on the actual product. This applies to kaiserkraft’s industry products as well as to ratioform’s packaging solutions.

Here’s what our PCF calculation gives you:

  • Transparent CO₂e data right on the product
  • Faster navigation through additional product models
  • No more time spent on research and calculations using Excel
  • Values that can be documented immediately for purchasing, ESG documentation and the sustainability report
  • Greater certainty when making sustainable purchasing decisions

A number is good. A direct comparison is better.

The PCF highlights how products differ in terms of their CO₂e value – whether it’s kaiserkraft ’s industry products or ratioform’s packaging solutions.

This is of particular use when you’re comparing products directly: a classic product on the one hand, an a CO₂ optimised additional model on the other hand. This is how the idea that “We should purchase more sustainably” becomes an actual decision: view the product, compare its PCF value, choose the additional model.

Less maths, more insights.

Comparing industry products

eurokraft basic aluminium sack truck [52.4 kg CO₂e]

eurokraft pro aluminium sack truck made from recycled material [48.4 kg CO₂e]

Saving

If you need 100 sack trucks in a year, you’ll save 400 kg of CO₂e annually. This value is practical to use in your Scope 3 reporting, your reduction targets or your SBTi measures.

Better orientation. More transparency. Greater impact when purchasing.

The PCF is a key component for more transparency at product level. What's more, kaiserkraft offers a range of products assessed for sustainability and provides the kaiserkraft sustainability score.

This makes it quicker for you to see which products meet specific sustainability criteria, which additional models are worth considering, and how product purchasing decisions can be made to align better with your company’s sustainability goals. After all, purchasing isn’t made more sustainable by a single label, but rather by transparent data, clear criteria and better comparability.

Find a product with ease. View the values. Make better decisions.
