Sustainability – self-evident.
Saving the world – an admirable goal. But we don't have superpowers; we only have the power to make a difference. And we're putting it to good use – together with everyone who shops more consciously, makes different choices and takes responsibility. Step by step. Product by product. Because every change starts with something small. For example, with the question: what is a product made of? How was it manufactured? And under what conditions?
We take these factors into consideration – and you can too:
- Material – resource efficient, durable, recyclable
- Raw materials – as fossil free as possible and tested
- Logistics – CO₂ aware, efficient, optimised
- People – fair supply chains, responsibility, transparency
To help you maintain an overview, we show you which products are more sustainable – at a glance. How can you tell? By looking at the kaiserkraft sustainability score.
The kaiserkraft sustainability score.
If you walk barefoot on a beach, you create a footprint. It's no different with products: production, materials, transport – everything has an impact on everything, to put it simply.
The kaiserkraft sustainability score allows us to make the social, ecological and economic impact of our product range visible, comparable and measurablemore quickly. The score is based on defined sustainability criteria and rates products on a scale of 1.0 to 5.9. The higher the score, the more sustainable the product.
- Every product in the range has been carefully tested
- The score is labelled directly on the product
- A score of 3.0 or higher: the product fulfils our sustainability requirements
This allows you to be certain that you will always get the better alternative from us, so that sustainable decisions are as easy as clicking on “Add to shopping basket”.
The criteria in detail.
Climate protection
Products are sourced from local suppliers whose energy efficiency is certified in accordance with ISO 50001 and is subject to continuous improvement. Suppliers and shipping are CO₂ compensated; the CO₂ footprint of the product is calculated and offset.
Biodiversity
Products should be manufactured primarily from certified, renewable and biodegradable materials. Suppliers implement environmentally friendly practices in accordance with ISO 14001 and continuously improve their environmental performance.
Economic efficiency
Products should conserve resources and be profitable. We assess whether they offer a sustainable alternative, make economic sense, are produced in an environmentally friendly way and are durable.
Innovation
Products are evaluated and tested on the basis of new or further developed, sustainable materials. The aim is to avoid fossil resources and create products that are ecologically, economically and socially advantageous.
Circular economy
Products should be made from recycled materials, be individually recyclable, guarantee a long service life, be made from a single material – and be shipped in sustainable packaging.
Deal-breaker criteria
Products are given a deal-breaker criterion if they violate sustainability standards due to child labour, corruption, labour law violations, discrimination or environmental and personal injury.
Practising sustainability – this is how the difference is made visible.
Using the example of two hand trucks, we make visible how different products can be in terms of sustainability, depending on the material, origin and production method. The score sums up these differences – quickly, transparently and directly on the product.
Make a sustainable decision – with a system and a score. Because every click counts. After all, every purchase has an impact.
