SiS Li-Ion Basic Charge EI 90 battery charging safety cabinet – LaCont with fire suppression system

The LaCont LI-ION Basic Charge EI 90 battery cabinet is the ideal entry level model for the active and passive storage of lithium ion batteries, with a main focus on fire protection.

The robust overall construction, tested by the Materials Testing Institute (MPA) in Dresden, exhibits a fire resistance rating of 90 minutes from the inside and outside (EI90) in accordance with EN 1363-1. The LaCont LI-ION Basic provides protection from fires inside the cabinet by means of all round fire protection seals that foam up automatically in the event of a fire, minimising the escape of smoke and toxic fumes. The aim is to gain time to evacuate people in the vicinity and to allow the fire brigade to initiate extinguishing measures.

Other standard features include an integrated ventilation system with smoke detector and fan (to switch off the power supply), 4 height adjustable mesh grate storage shelves with a max. load of 75 kg each (with evenly distributed load), a plinth that provides access from below with a panel for ease of movement, and fire resistant cable inlets for customer installation of fire detectors or zero potential contacts.

Made of non-flammable material (class A2-s1, d0 in accordance with EN 13501-1) incl. coating (body aluminium in colour / doors RAL 1023 – traffic yellow), zinc plated sheet steel base tray, 17 l collection capacity.

Control unit of the SiS Li-Ion Basic Charge EI 90:

– Fault signal by optical signal and shutdown of the ventilation system, as well as extinguishing generator with non-mains dependent activation in the event of a fire and impermissible temperature increase
– If smoke is detected, the fan integrated in the cabinet switches off automatically
– Visual status display provides information on the current status of the cabinet (fire detection, ventilation unit, trailing sockets)
– In the event of a fire, the ventilation unit switches off automatically to reduce air circulation
– The power supply can be disconnected manually in the event of a fire by pressing the mains switch on the control unit
– No standard acoustic alarm in the event of fire – subsequent installation of fire detector or zero potential contact possible by the customer using fire resistant cable inlets in the cabinet
– Nominal voltage 230 V (400 V upon request)

With fire suppression system (aerosol extinguishing generator), with non-mains dependent activation in the event of fire or impermissible temperature increase starting from 180 °C.
Function: when the solid contained in the extinguishing generator is activated, an aerosol comprised of solid and gaseous particles is produced. These spread throughout the entire cabinet in milliseconds, displacing oxygen, diluting combustible gases and starting the extinguishing process. This means the aerosol interrupts the chemical chain reaction of the fire process by displacing oxygen, among other things, and terminates it. If the fire suppression system is not activated, the maintenance free service life totals 10 years.
